Benoni Community Radio Network

About the Benoni Community Radio Network

The network allows the residents of Benoni with handsets to communicate with each other and the members of the CPF (Community Police Forum) in emergencies or to report suspicious behavior etc.

 What are the advantages

  • When someone experiences a burglary, armed robbery, hijacking or has a vehicle stolen they contact their security company or the SAPS after the incident but no one else that could offer assistance knows of the incident.
  • By contacting your security company and also reporting the incident on the radio network the other network users and the members of the CPF can respond. The CPF members that monitor the network will then report the incident on the CAN system if necessary.
  • When a crime has been committed and the details have been broadcast over the radio network, the members can be on the lookout for the suspects vehicles or suspects and call it in over the network so that we can track what direction they are going.
  • The members of the Radio Network can also use their handsets to report suspicious vehicles or people to the other users so that they can be aware.
  • By reporting the incident over the Radio Network the CPF can get the SAPS, Emergency Services, EMPD or other CPF members to offer assistance asap.
